New Years in Jackson, Wyoming

Michael and I rang in the new year in Jackson, Wyoming, a place I’ve wanted to visit for a long time and it was a trip I will never forget. I fell in love with the energy in the town and of course the stunning scenery. I was determined to get some shots of the famous Moulton Barn (3rd photo) at Mormon Row and the fact that it, and the other barns, are the most photographed barns in America did not deter me. I wanted MY eyes behind the lens and my own photos to add to my growing “old barn” collection. The road to the Mormon Row was closed so we bundled up and hiked out in the snow (a couple miles roundtrip) which made it a fun adventure and there were no crowds or tourists to contend with. It was was a beautiful sunny, cold day and the highest peaks of the Grand Tetons were hidden behind some clouds, which at first I was a little disappointed by, but have since come to love about these photos. And I love that little outhouse behind the house with the green roof. We also visited the National Elk Refuge, where there were literally thousands of elk hanging out. It was such a sight to see. And the sunset shot I took this week at the ranch after work one night. It was a jaw dropper, lasting over half an hour, the kind that puts tears in your eyes and makes you take a deep, happy, grateful breath.
