Little Signs and Big Love

Brian and I island hopped to Maui this past weekend to celebrate our one year anniversary. It was a relaxing and fun weekend and neither of us wanted to leave. There is a tranquility and spaciousness about Maui that I don’t think exists on Oahu, but I guess that is what is neat about the islands; they are all beautiful in such different ways.

I always felt pulled to Hawaii, and aside from the obvious, I never really knew why. Now I know that I was brought here to meet Brian. Sometimes when you don’t force things, when you follow your heart and let the universe work it’s magic, you’ll find things are exactly as they should be.

One of my favorite quotes from Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, Eat, Pray, Love is: “But I was always coming here. I thought about one of my favorite Sufi poems, which says that God long ago drew a circle in the sand exactly around the spot where you are standing right now. I was never not coming here. This was never not going to happen.”

This weekend Brian and I found a spot to watch the sunset by this pretty tree. We claimed it our own for a moment while it basked in the glow of the sun’s last rays.

I felt so incredibly blessed in that moment, and always, to be in the arms of the most loving, selfless, handsome man, who makes my heart sing and who I can’t imagine life without.

We meandered along the ocean walk after the sun went down and decided upon a restaurant in the Four Season’s Hotel for dinner. The Four Season’s might I add, is one of the loveliest hotels I’ve ever laid eyes on. We chose a cabernet sauvignon from Paso Creek that neither of us has tried before, and a good choice our server confirmed. The bottle came to the table and both of us couldn’t help but laugh when we saw the label.

Another little sign from the universe that all is as it should be.

A psychiatrist is a pyhaicisn who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. I have a bachelor’s degree in the social services field. For several years, I have worked with children who have been diagnosed with mental disorders. It is upsetting to see children victimize at an early age and even more disturbing to see them as predators as early as 5 years of age, however knowing that I am doing my part to assist them in becoming functioning youths and adults is rewarding. The empathy, confidentiality and maturity of a medical assistant are definitely needed in this area. I enjoy establishing a rapport with these clients and helping them to find adequate coping skills to deal with their disorders, therefore I would like to work for a psychiatrist.I would not like to work for an emergency pyhaicisn for several reasons. I will explain a few. Patients who come to the emergency center typically have serious injuries or trauma. I would not like to have my mind constantly focused on who is coming thru the door and how sever the prognosis is. Knowing myself, I know that would be my focus and I would not be very productive. Also, in the emergency room the staff has to be prepared for anything, I would prefer an area that focuses on a particular specialty. Most importantly, I do not wish to see excessive amounts of blood loss on a regular basis. Actually, not even a minimal amount of blood loss on a regular basis. Giving my opinion and thoughts about this specialty, I would not be an effective employee.
