Ch-Ch-Ch Changes

Wow, this is the first time I’ve opened my laptop in five days. It was a good weekend. It’s so nice to totally unplug every now and then. I’ve been crossing things off my Hawaii Bucket List left, right and center lately.

I have just over one week left in Hawaii, before I move back to Beautiful B.C. I got into SFU’s Continuing Studies Editing Certficate Program, which I am really excited about. Leaving Hawaii was NOT an easy decision to make, but this program is exactly what I am looking for and there isn’t anything offered in Hawaii like it. That, and I also trust SFU to be the best, since I graduated from there already. I’m biased 🙂

My heart hurts to leave my island home and my wonderful friends here, but I know I am making the best decision for ME right now. It’s time for a change. Maybe I will be back, maybe I won’t. Life is unfolding as it should. All I can say is that I had the most passionate love affair with Hawaii for three years of my life and I am grateful for every moment of it. These islands are forever etched in my heart and I am forever changed.

One of my Bucket List items was to visit the Bishop Museum, which I did a couple weeks ago when my friends were in town. It was fascinating to say the least. I happened upon a huge book of Hawaiian proverbs by Mary Kawena Pukui, and on one of the first pages I flipped to was this saying:

I like it. Seems fitting. A return to the backbone. A little message from the universe that all is how it should be.  I’m closing the Hawaii chapter for now but  am looking forward to the next one, and all the adventures to come that will continue my story and journey.

Change is the only constant.
